Residential Services

The philosophy of the Arc of Haywood County, Residential Services is to provide a continuum of services, dependent upon client need and ability, while promoting the least restrictive enviornment.
Group Homes
The Arc of Haywood County
currently operates four group homes in Haywood County. Three of
these homes are DDA (Developmentally Disabled Adults) Group
Homes and one ICF (Intermediate Care Facility) Group Home. These homes
serve individuals from mild to severe/profound mental
retardation with related developmental disabilities.
Transitional/Apartment Program
A transition program and an apartment living program are also available
for adults who can achieve living and/or training skills necessary for
independent living.
Employment
All residents are enrolled in a vocational skills training program or
competitive employment.
The Arc employs full-time and part-time staff who provide care and services
to residents in our homes and in the community.
Through our dedicated professionals and para-professional staff, the Arc provides
comprehensive skills development training in the areas of:
- Self-help
- Cooking and meal preparation
- Employment
- Money management
- Household management
- Retirement preparation
- Personal hygiene
- Leisure time activities
- Social skills
- Health and safety
- Recreational opportunities
The programs are designed and implemented based on individualized needs.
By structuring group home training, residents develop new skills and learn a sense of responsibility.
Emphasis is placed on community integration utilizing local shopping, public transit, banking, restaurants, volunteering and attending recreational and entertainment facilities.
